WEEK 2

We are required to bring food that our classmates never ate before and what I brought was otak-otak, product of Muar, well known food in Malaysia. Otak-otak is a grilled fish cake made of ground fish meat mixed with tapioca starch and spices and Malaysian love this so much.

I have 9 classmates and what they brought are different kinds of maggie mee, ginseng chocolate， chinpi and keropok from Terengganu. I love the ginseng chocolate so much but seems like some of my classmates don't like that as well because the smell and the taste is a bit strong as it's made of ginseng, a Chinese traditional medicine, so I ate 4 ginseng chocolates that day as the taste is actually quite nice though..For the chinpi, it's a Chinese traditional medicine, sun-dried tangerine peel used as a traditional seasoning in Chinese cooking and traditional medicine. But children take it as a snack and I love to eat this since I was young. Keropok, product of Terengganu, Malaysia, is one of my favourite snacks. My classmate brougnt a lot packets of keropok in different flavour and I chose the spicy flavour one. That was my first time to eat a spicy flavour keropok and it's quite a good experience to me.

I have a few foreign classmates from Yemen, Pakistan and Indonesia. What they had brought are their local food and snacks and I like the Pakistan local food the most especially the curry! About Yemen local food... I have no idea but it taste like speghetti and seems like some of my classmates don't really like that but I'm the special one XD It taste good actually but I don't know how to describe that taste. My Indonesian classmate brought dried plum and this is my favourite snack too!

My dear lecturer, brought us some dried red fish..maybe it's really called red fish? I have no idea about the name of the snack actually. He kept the snack as a secret and ask u to eat that one by one, and I know it's fish but I just didn't know what fish is that and suprisingly, it's nice! After that he told us what we have eaten is cockcroch. A cockroach? No way HAHA I know it's fish so I know he was just kidding but everyone was screaming.

We had a lot of fun during this session and I hope that we have one more session like this.
